Riding Clinics Overview
Your journey begins at the Cornucopia Lodge, nestled in a pristine Wallowa Mountain valley next to Pine Creek, just 12 miles north of the sleepy town of Halfway, Oregon. Arrive the evening before to get settled in and meet your trail buddies for the next seven days.
Our first full day will be at Cornucopia Lodge and filled with Natural Horsemanship Training and Safety Trail and Wilderness Preparation.
On day two we head along the trail into the wilderness that becomes our "Natural Training Classroom," beginning that morning and each morning with a progressive lesson, and then finding opportunities on the trail to put what you've learned into practice. And the terrain offers ample opportunity to learn and improve as we cross streams and rivers, visit alpine lakes, traverse grassland hillsides and canyon ridges, maneuver over and around downed trees, navigate rock outcroppings, trot and lope on the grassland benches and across hidden meadows.
Evenings by the campfire will be filled with learning useful knots, history of the area, backcountry packing, Dutch oven success secrets, and discussions on the day's challenges and rewards, if you can stay awake.
We strive to keep all of our rides fun and relaxing while offering a progressive "clinic or lesson" experience.
Each ride includes:
- Well-appointed lodging in one of our private cabins or lodge rooms
- Western hospitality and delicious hearty meals both on and off the trail
- Exceptional "Natural Horsemanship" instruction
- Experienced backcountry wranglers to provide a safe and fun wilderness vacation
- Comfy accommodations for your furry equine partners while at the lodge
- All tents, cots and meals (vegetarian and gluten free available) provided while in the back country.
Just imagine . . . a million stars uninterrupted by city lights . . . the call of the wild . . . night owls, tree frogs, coyote songs . . . friendly conversation around a warm and glowing campfire . . . sharing an enchanting western experience that makes you feel like you're in cowgirl heaven!
